93 Jeep cherokee Sport, 4.0 liter.
Jeep was driving fine, nothing out of the ordinary, I cut it off to go eat with some friends and when I came back to it, it would just turn and turn and turn.
Battery- replaced summer 08
Starter- replaced summer 08
Turns over but will not start. I was not getting spark to the plug wires so I changed the coil, the plugs, the cap and rotor. Now I have spark to each wire and plenty of fuel pressure into the fuel rail. Tried replacing the cam shaft postition sensor-- still no start. Even poured a lil fuel down into the breather valve STILL no start. Checked all the fuses--all look normal--- What could cause it to have spark, fuel but no fire suddenly?

Thank You for the answer--
Is the timing chain most likely the reason the timing is off now?
What else besides the chain could be the problem?
I'm out of town visiting family and really, really can't afford to take it to a shop. Thanks again

Check the engne compression both wet and dry. Are you sure is t getting spark and fuel-Did you check the actual fuel pressure with a pressure gauge.

You might be getting fuel but is the injector/s pulsing opening/closing.

I dont' have the tools to check compression or pressure.
I pressed the valve on the top of the fuel rail and fuel shot out everywhere pretty good. Pressure enough?
I checked spark to each wire by pulling the wire off the plug and shocking myself/checking for arc.
I can't say about the injectors but after turning the motor a few times and pulling the plugs they are moist.
Today when I turned the motor it stumbled about the 2nd turn (whcih is usually when it fires) but the battery gave out then too. Going on the 6th day of messing with my Jeep now.
I can check for pulse on the injectors when someone gets here and I can use some jumper cables.

With spark, wouldn't it fire and run for a minute if I sprayed starter fluid into the breather valve/ air intake?

Its running now.
Starter fluid into the breather and some healty whacks to the computer and the gas pedal down to the floor it finally fired.
Ran very rough and smoked really bad for about 5 minutes. Then it cleared up. I drove it around let it get to normal operating temperature, shut it off and it's starting normal now.

I did notice an abnormal clanking sound in the muffler when it first fired up, however that also subsided after a trip around the block. I will be further investigating the sound in the muffler and post about it.
Thank you again for the answer and the patience.
