I've changed out my fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, and tank vapor valve. I followed my fuel line to a fuel tank selector valve a few feet away from the fuel filter! I'm puzzled! My question is, why would I have a tank selector valve with only 1 tank? It's a short bed with a single rear center tank! As you can see there are 2 ports going in 2 going out.

Hi,

Is there a part number on that item? I can't place my finger on it, but I don't feel that it is a tank selector switch. Is there an electrical connector on it? If it is a selector switch, do you see a way to bypass it?

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Ford OEM Part # F0TZ9K044A. It's not the selector switch (in the cab) it's the tank selector valve located outside below the driver side door by the transfer casing guarded by a heatshield, no there is no electrical connector, but once again, why would I have a selector valve with one single tank located in the center rear of the truck? Can I bypass it or is it something I really need to get fuel pressure? Only 1 tank so the valve only has 2 ports going in and 2 ports going out as shown in the 3 pictures. And thanks for responding Joe.

Hi,

If the truck only has one tank, I have no idea why that would be there. I don't see why you couldn't bypass it.

If you are getting fuel pressure to it, that is what I would suggest doing. If you follow the two fuel hoses to the engine compartment from the selector valve, check to see if one is a supply and one is a return and let me know what you find. If there is a return, we have to have a line going back to the tank.

Let me know.

Joe.

Hi, that was my next thought was to try and bypass it, but I know it is on there for a reason for what I don't know. Thought maybe was added to regulate the flow of the gas. I soaked it and tried to clean it best I could. So, I'm going to try to install it maybe tomorrow, if that doesn't work then I'll try to bypass. Thanks for the feedback. Here's a clearer pic of the part. Thanks again.
