My car overheated and the Cylinder head and head gasket cracked according to the repair shop and they replaced the cylinder head, head gasket, thermostat, thermostat o-ring and they replaced the serpentine drive belts. Now the vehicle smokes. They did a 109k oil kit and that did not help and they did a dynamic engine cleaner which entailed running it for an hour at 1500rpm. That did nothing as it still smokes. Any suggestions if this can be fixed?

Hi there.

What engine oil are they using, don't use a synth oil use a mineral oil and for those miles 20w-50, now the main problems that with the new head, this has shown up a weakness in the lower end, a common problem that they should have explained before fitting a new head, you will need a leak down test to determine if this is the case, but I feel there is not a lot to be done except a lower end overhaul.
