my amigo has been diagnosed as running too rich - the mechanic states he does not know how to fix this

Was the check engine light on? In other words, how does he know this?

the check engine lite is on and off.........a small hose was replaced on the vacuum valve.....which helped but did not cure it......suspect that the valve needs replaced?? all of the cylinder pressures were within limits....i have had this thing looked at by 4 "service techs"....it is running too rich, can smell it in the exhaust.....

Has the light come on reciently? What code was found? To me it sounds like a bad O2 sensor or temp sensor.

the light flickers on and off.........temp guage has stayed wiin range, no one has put it on the computer yet....

I would have the check engine light checked. Many nationally recognized parts stores will scan the computer for free.
