I have replaced both the battery and alternator in the van. Two weeks after doing so, one morning it wouldn't start. I found that a dome light was left on and turned it off. Jumped the van and it's been fine since. Two weeks later (today) my wife and kids went out of town and as they were exiting the interstate, the battery light came on and it shut off. They coasted into a parking lot, and it won't start. What could be causing this issue?

It sounds like you have a defective alternator. can I ask which brand you used? let's charge the battery up so it will start then check the alternator output. These guides should help, also we should check the charging system fuses (p/train 7.5 amp engine compartment, and IG1 in the interior fuse panel).

Here are the charging system wiring diagrams so you can see how it works and which fuses to check. If everything checks out, we should run the codes.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
