My engine has low compression in cylinder 3 but I think in also cylinder 2.

The engine has rattling sound.
Low power. Poor performance.
Check engine light.
Heats fast at the half way mark in under 10 minutes.
Loses coolant quickly.

I'm thinking it is due to the timing chain. And I am curious to know if it my timing chain and timing tensioner that needs to be replaced.

I'm in question about how much that will cost me and exactly what other parts need to be replaced as well during that repair.

Toyota reported to me on my last oil chain that my engine has an oil leak in the timing belt cover seal.

Then shortly after all of that I began having these issues.

However before that. I had always had issues with my coils replacing them and the check engine light coming on.
It seemed to progressed since.

So I'm stuck between replacing the engine with a re-manufactured. Or used engine.

Fixing the issues with my current engine and replacing whats needed

Or not really sure where to take it to get an exact idea of whats actually needs to be replaced and the condition of the engine internally.

Thank you sorry if that was long and if you have any questions please call me

Thanks again.

Hello,

This is almost certainly a blown head gasket. When your engine's head gasket fails it will let compression leak out of one or more cylinders, let coolant leak, possibly letting it mix with the engine oil depending on where it is blown at and the severity of it. There is a test called a wet compression test that can tell if the piston rings are damaged, which would probably be best to replace the engine with a re-manufactured one at that point, but all of your vehicle's symptoms point towards a blown head gasket. Replacing your engine's head gasket isn't that hard to do, and should be able to be done in 1 days time, so if you decide to go this way it will probably cost around 150 dollars for the Head Gasket Kit and having your cylinder head shaved at a machine shop. We have step by step instructions from the vehicle manufacturer on how to do this job, just, please get back to us and we will get the guide right out to you.

Thanks,
Alex

Okay, well how much will it cost to replace the engine with a re-manufactured engine. And how much will it cost to replace the head gasket.

Do you guys just give advice or how can I get it to the professionals and get it tested and knowing for certain how to solve this problem and the cost? :) Thanks a bunch.

Hello,

In the diagrams down below I have included the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) part numbers and prices for both a new replacement engine and a head gasket kit. I have also included the price for a new short block, as well, if you decide to go that way. As far as a re-manufactured or used engine, you will have to find that yourself, but I would recommend looking at LKQ, which is Ebay's used parts warehouse. They will deliver to wherever you need it sent to. We offer repair advice and instructional how to guides and instructions so you can repair your vehicle yourself. Please go through this information and get back to us if you would like the step by step instructions from the vehicle manufacturer for the removal and installation of your vehicle's engine or the step by step instructions for replacing your vehicle's head gasket. We will be happy to shoot one or both of them over to you.

Thanks,
Alex
