Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com. Based on your description, it sounds like the ignition switch itself is bad. Here are general directions specific for your vehicle for testing and inspection including pics 1 and 2
TESTING AND INSPECTION
IGNITION SWITCH
INSPECTION
Disconnect the ignition switch connector and key warning switch connector from under the steering column.
Check for continuity between the terminals.
If continuity is not specified, replace the switch.
If you determine it's bad, here are directions for removal and replacement of the component included in pics 3 to 7.
SERVICE AND REPAIR
IGNITION SWITCH
REPLACEMENT
Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
Remove the crash pad lower panel(A).
Remove the ignition switch (A) after loosening the screw with IG ON and disconnecting the 6P connector.
Remove the steering column shaft.
Remove the door warning switch after loosening the screws and disconnecting the 6P connector.
If it is necessary to remove the key lock cylinder (A), remove the key lock cylinder (A) after pushing lock pin with key ACC.
Installation is the reverse of removal procedure.
The last picture is of location.
