Stuff to look at,

Is this the correct key? (are you sure?) If you have a spare---give it a try! Are the wheels turned or against something? Try holding the steering wheel CW or CCW while you turn the key. Is the gearshift in it's proper location? We have a guide that may aid you along the way!

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me. I put the key in the ignition this morning and the key turned fine and the engine started. It's bizarre! It wouldn't budge yesterday.
Maybe I need to keep an eye on the ignition barrel, do you think?
Thanks,
Nick

I looked in several places for an answer. Just first hand experiences and nothing about it in the references I have as being a factory defect.

This video goes hand in hand with one of the suggestions in our "Repair Guides" (top of our pages). This video is concerning a 2005 model, in other instances, they said they had earlier models and when left to sit overnight stopped working, the mallet did!

Eventually, I see this not working, like in the middle of Bear pass Colorado, minus 12 degrees, and it be only you and your mother-in-law on board.

This, at minimum, may show you how hard to whack, insure the key is seated each time. don't need a broken or bent key too!

Until you can get the cylinder replaced, keep a rubber mallet on board!

Just reviewing this and wanted to jump in because I have seen this before on this vehicle.

More then likely when you sprayed the WD40 in there, it broke loose the dirt and grime and when you put the key in, it blocked the tumblers. Then after it was dry the next day, things started to work again.

If this happens again, I would remove it and clean it out again or replace it.

I attached the process for this below if you need it. Thanks
