I just bought this car, and it ran badly. when i checked the codes, it only had Camshaft Position Sensors Bank 1 and 2. So, i replaced them and cleared the codes out. It was running pretty good. Then i went and unplugged the Throttle Position sensor and cleaned the connection and opened up the butterfly valve and cleaned behind the Throttle plate. Once i did that is when I got the code P0507 Idle Speed control system-RPM too high. and when i start it up the rpms do go up to 2,000. My question is, if I unplug and/or clean in front of and behind the Throttle body plate on this car do I need to do an idle Air control volume relearn for the ECM to be able to get the right reading from the TPS? If so, what is the correct relearn process and the steps?

Hi,

The idea that you opened the throttle plate may be the issue. Is it fully closing? Also, you can remove the IAC and see if there is anything as far as dirt that may be causing issues.

Also, I need to know if there are other codes than the one listed.

Let me know. Also, here is a link you may find of interest:

Take care,

Check the IAC to see if something is allowing too much to bypass it. Try servicing it and see if that makes a difference. You may need to have the throttle control relearn procedure done. That will require a scan tool that can communicate with the modules. Normally, that isn't required unless parts are replaced, but if you were moving the throttle plate with everything turned off, it may have caused an issue.

Let me know what you find with the IAC.
