No, you didn't adjust the idle speed. You messed with the idle stop and you should not have done that. The computer controls the idle speed by metering air through the IAC.
If the idle speed was too high, then there is likely an air leak somewhere.
Now you have to not only find the base problem but then re-calibrate the idle stop screw.
