My EX model. Semi auto gearbox is struggling on slow down after driving at motorway speeds. I get a warning light of a cog and then as the gearbox tries to change down it clunks and lurches. The car then stalls as it feels that it cannot change down to a stop. When I try to apply power to move off the car wont apply drive to the wheels. I have to turn off the engine and restart the car and eventually it begins to work properly. This problem only happens after motorway driving but on normal roads where the gearbox is working normally.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Since the light is coming on, I recommend that you have the computer scanned. If there is a diagnostic trouble code related to the transmission, it will point us in the right direction.

Here is a quick video that shows how it is done:

Now I realize most people don't own a scanner, but most parts stores will scan it for free. You should consider having that done,

Next, have you checked the transmission fluid condition and level? If the fluid is clean and full, this could be a pressure related issue. However, the scan would help identify that.

Check the fluid and if you can, scan the computer. Let me know what you find. Also, I'm questioning if the cog light you see is related to the traction control. Let me know what you find with the first couple checks.
