Hi garthman83. Welcome to the forum. This noise is typical of a noisy front wheel bearing. When turning slightly, such as when changing lanes, does not affect it, your mechanic will have to run it in gear, on a hoist, and listen with a stethoscope to identify which one needs to be replaced.
