I have a code 1520 on my scanner. It reads manufactuer controlled vehicle speed idle control and aux. Inputs. On cold starts it is sluggish to move. Once warmed up, it seems to perform ok. What part is and procedure is required and where is it. Thanks

Hi leonard,

Thank you for the donation.

DTC P1520 = Generator FR Terminal Circuit Malfunction.

Note : When alternator field coil is controlled, alternator FR terminal inputs a signal to ECM. ECM controlls idle speed according to the alternator output.

ECM will set DTC P1520 and illuminate MIL if output from alternator FR terminal is zero percent duty cycle for 20 seconds r more

Possible causes :
Open circuit in alternator FR terminal circuit.
ECM failed.

The test procedures are not available from the manufacturer so I am not able to post them for you.

I would suggest getting the alternator tested.
