Actually, the two systems are tied together. Chances are there is a bad brake sensor that has set both lights. What you need to do is take the vehicle to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer to see where the problem is coming from. Most parts stores will do it for free. Also, the vehicle should be safe to drive with the ABS and traction control lights on. The brakes will work but the ABS will not.
