2003 Hyundai Elantra 140, 00 miles

basically there was coolant in the car.A little low but not anything to cause alarm. We were driving when we noticed the temp guage was extremely high. So we pulled over and put coolant in and tried to drive it again after letting it sit. Got about 2 miles before it started again. We let it sit over night and then brought more coolant to make sure it had enough we even let it run with the radiator cap off to ensure no air was in the system. Closed the hood and test drove it and it was fine for about 5 minutes then slowely started to go past the half way mark on the guage but as soon as we stop the car or it idles it goes back down. Then once we refilled it again a loud fan noise that wasn't on before came on and I'm not sure if just the coolant was to low so the radiator fan wasn't turning on and since we filled it its coming back on.

You likely have a leak and lost substantial coolant over time. You need to pressure test the cooling system t determine where the coolant is going.

How would I do that? We are both students. And girls so cars aren't really in my realm of knowledge. We just got back and basically when the heater is on the cars coolant level doesn't rise or bubble. Even when we rev it to 3000 rpm. But once the heater is off it rises the level and bubbles (not alot)

I don't know what you want me to tell you. You're just going to have to pay a shop to do it for you.

I read up on it and I know the tests could be done outside of a shop. Or is it to difficult? I just know we took it to a shop to get looked at 2 weeks ago and now were having major issues and he refuses to take a 2nd look at it. In other words he sprayed some sort of cleaner into the car and said it would fix the issue and charged us and now won't look at it again until we pay 200.
