Hello,
I have toyota 98 camry and I have somehow blown the ALT (100A) fuse. I bought the new fuse but I am unable to replace the blown one. The fuse seems to be hooked to something below. I searched on the web and found that I need to open the box and then I can replace the fuse. I tried hard to lose the box somehow but all in vain. I found some youtube videos for 96 and 2000 camry but their fuse box is different. Can someone help me with specifically the 98 camry.
Its been 10 days, the car is on its own :(

Thanks

At the side of the fuse you need to pry open the covers to get at the holding screw. It is a 10 and/or 8 mm hex head. Here is the location in the diagrams below

This guide will help you test it

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

Is it fuse 30 or 60 AMP, try to replace, but there is one thing you should check. If your car got rotating distributor, remove distributor cover, inside, you'll find capacitor with only one wire coming out from one side, and bolted to coil, that's your AM radio noise filter, but before you cut and pull it out, just remove accurate and after replacing fuse try to start. On my 1993 Camry that capacitor was shorted to ground, so it was blowing 30APM Fuse, until I cut that capacitor out.

And just a reminder, large AMP fuses are mounted with nuts, under fuse box, to bottom piece of fuse box, you'll need to pry all relays with fuses out of that box with thin flat screw drivers on sides, only then you'll be able to replace.

Right at the positive cable and look at the big fuses. I bet one is blown or the connection is loose.

Please elaborate on problem. How do you know the battery and alternator are good if vehicle does not run. What have you tested?

Do the running lights work? If they do its not the ignition switch. Do you have voltage at the fuse box? Is everything dead? No power anywhere? If thats the case it has to be battery connections or battery ground at engine or frame. Is there 12v at the fat wire at the alternator?

Power at the under hood fuse box? Refresh my memory. Does this have big fuses at the pos cable at the battery or rubber fuse links? I would imagine its got to be there or very close. I have to bail now, if your still having problems ill look up the schematic at work in am and trace exactly where the wire goes.
