I am not able to re-initialize the key (i followed the initialization steps where you have to turn on the ignition then hold one button and tap the other three times, nothing happened). It has the factory alarm and key. I tried visiting car repair shops within my country and nobody works on BMW's this old. Any suggestions are welcome, and I am not afraid to get my hands dirty if there is a fix. I just want to lock/unlock my car remotely. I do not even need the alarm if it is an issue with it.
Thanks

Hello,

You have two fuses and a fusible link that must have power for the alarm to work. Also, the door switches must be closed for the system to initiate.

Here is a wiring diagram of the security system and guides to help you do some testing:

and

Check out the diagrams (below).

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Hello,
I have taken my car to a shop to check for blown fuses and i even gave the diagrams to check the rest of the wiring, everything is okay(i expected it to take much longer than few hours). So there must be an issue with the key and the alarm.I know a "initialisation block" can happen, and my key stopped working more than 10 years ago so nobody remembers what actually happened back then.Is there a way i can check for the initialisation block? When i previously visited shops around my country i asked about BMW GT1 diagnostics tool and nobody has it sadly,im looking for alternatives. I even considered running the diagnostics tool on a virtual machine on my laptop but all the download links are long turned off.
Tomorrow i plan to do this procedure: http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/1212240
If nothing changes i have no idea what my next step will be.Can you help me check about the initialisation block please?
Thanks

I spent days researching and trying other methods and nothing seems to work, I still didnt find the software for diagnostics but I will put a search post on car sites in my country, and hopefully someone will get in touch or help in any way.
