I need to replace struts. They won't hold the hood open; how do you remove the old struts?

Hi,
I attached the directions below for the removal of the support strut. Installation is the reverse of removal.
When you do this, realize that once it is removed, the hood will instantly fall closed, so support it and protect your hands, fingers, and anything that can be hit by the hood.
