Yes a transmission from a h23 will work on your prelude. you just have to change the engine mount. I have a 1998 honda prelude (BASE) When I bought the car It did have a automatic transmission but it was bad. I LOVE Prelude's And specially a 5 speed. I thought of doing the same thing you want to do but I had to do a lot of work. because It did not have the hole where the clutch or the cylinder. If I wanted to do this I had to drill holes and do a lot of work. I just put on a automatic. You can do It but it will take time and work. Good luck
