Ok my prelude has this unknown problem. First when my car is off it can go into gears perfectly but when I start the car it do not want to go into gears(none at all) and the clutch is working properly too. My friend tells me it can be a bent shift fork and the other problem can be a internal damage in the transmission but someone told me it can be the throw out bearing and would need a new clutch kit?Do I need a new transmission or a clutch kit?

Hi timothyma,

The problem should be with the clutch system and nothing to do with the transmission. Neither is it the throwout bearing.

If the cluth is working with pressure, possible causes are :

1. The clutch disc is stuck. If the vehicle had been left idle for an extended period, the cluth would stick to the flywheel and it would not release itself.

2. The clutch disc is bad, its damper has dislodged themselves and this would not allow the clutch to free itself when the pedal is depressed.
