DOES THE COMPUTER SYSTEM HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ALTERNATOR. I HAVE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY BUT THE BATTERY KEEPS GOING DEAD. I CAN JUMP THE CAR OFF BUT IT DIES WHEN I TAKE THE JUMPER CABLES OFF THE CAR.

Hi THRESEA,

The computer requires the alternator to be charging to work effectively. It does not control the alternator but rather it receives signals from the alternator.

If you have replaced the alternator, it could either be a bad unit installed or you have an open in the wiring circuit.

Charge the battery and start engine. Test the charging rate/voltage at battery terminals and at alternator main mast.

Check if the alternator harness connector is securely plugged it, have seen many cases of them getting loose.
Does the charge indicator light in dash shows when ignition is turned on and while engine is started?
