2005 Honda Break Maintenance

In general, how long should the front disk breaks last on a 2005 Honda Pilot? The reason I ask is because my Honda delaer is telling me that (at 25,000 miles) they need to be machined smooth. I feel like I'm being fed a load of bull.

Also, are there safety risks if they say my breaks need to be machined and I do not do it right away?

Thank You!

You must live in a city and ride the brakes. They should not fail by 25000 miles. Also at the age the rotors should not need to be turned, unless the brake pads are so far gone. You can purchase lifetime brakes for that vehicle. You can remove easily a tire and look at the brake pads to see what is remaining. Also look at the rotors to see if there are any grooves in them or they look rough. If I don't get 60 to 80 K miles on a set of brakes I have been taken.
