My vehicle experiences vibrations between 50 and 55 mph approx. 1500 rpm; feels like rough road. Vibration is not there at higher or lower speeds and goes away if I take my foot off the gas. Honda dealer suggests replacing EGR valve. Another mechanic suggested it may be torque converter.

I would take Honda's advice (there may be a Honda TSB concerning this problem). If the EGR is malfunctioning, it would be letting an excessive amount of unburnt gasses into the combustion chamber, this is controlled by the PCM, but could be a malfunctioning valve.

I would have suspected a tire/alignment/suspension/bearing problem since you did not mention a loss of power which the EGR would also cause if not working.

Honda could take the car on a test drive and measure EGR function at the speed it occurs with a portable scanner (as well as other sensor parameters).

The torque convertor is a remote possibility in my opinion.
