04 Honda Oddy cranks over but will not start. I have figured out that if I turn it completely off 2 times then try it again it starts. It is completely random in nature. The first time it occured it took a few months before it happended again. Now it is to the point where it is about every 5 to 7 days or so. I have also tried to start it by trying it over and over without switching the ignition to the off position and it never starts. I have tried leaving it for several hours that did not help. But if I turn the switch on and off it starts every time. What is this and how hard is the suspected part to replace.

Hi andyluar,

Thank you for the donation.

Intermittent problems are rather difficult to diagnose and when the problem occurs, you need to monitor the situation to understand what could possibly be missing.

Check if the dashindicator lights goes off while cranking, If the charge indicator does not show while cranking and it does not start, the problem could be a faulty ignition switch.

You would have to test if ignition sparks or fuel is missing causing the non start. Here is a link which explains what to test for.

Is the Check Engine Light indication when engine is running?
Does it go off after 2 seconds when ignition switch is turned ON?
