i was told that 2 of my engine mounts needed replacing. Should I spend the $500 and why?

With broken or worn out engine mounts you should always replace them ASAP. The reason being, is with the torque of the motor your engine will not move a lot more than it was designed to move. This can interfere with drivetrain angles, causing worn out axles, driveshafts, even disturb transmissions. It can also create breaks in wiring harnesses, hoses, etc.

In my opinion, it is well worth the $500 to replace the engine mounts, you'll end up paying double that if you leave the worn mounts in there.
