My 88rex hasn't wanted to start, so I pulled the first spark-plug and it was soaked in oil, I pulled the 2nd, dry&ok, 3rd, oily, not soaked like the first, and the last one was dry, my first thought was the rings are shot, granted it's almost 20 years old and 184250 is the mileage, 1.6, 5spd, I put new plugs in and it wont start, and all new plugs were dry after trying to start for 10 min, what to do? I have never changed the fuel pump either?

Thanks for listening. Jim

You need to determine if there is spark at the plugs. Could be a coil that is gone. The oil on the plugs, is that on the tip or the top of the plug?

Make sure you are getting spark, could be a bad sensor in the distributor, doesnt have a coil. Make sure you here the fuel pump kick on, to make sure it is getting fuel.
