Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Honda CRX 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 217xxx miles

I replaced the original crx engine with a 1990 civic DX engine, same engines but I reused my original camshaft as the person who gave me the engine needed it. Car ran great until you try to take it up an incline, ie car hauler or hill. Thats when it will bog down, backfire and die. I am not sure what the deal it, I timed it 3 times and it seems that it is not a timeing issue. Could this be fuel related? Or could it be that I reused the camshaft?

What engine did the camshaft come out of? And exactly which engine is in your vehicle now?

I need engine codes if I'm going to tell you if the camshaft is the actual proper one to use. If it's the wrong camshaft, the vehicle must be tuned to adjust the fuel maps and ignition timing inorder to run properly.
