Electrical problem
2003 Honda CRV 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

When I open the driver passenger door on my CRV I notice that the interior lights do not come on. When the driver door is opened and the headlights are on or the keys are in the ignition, it no longer sounds an alarm or buzz to let you know.

I checked the rear passengers doors and when they are opened the interior lights come on.

I looked for a possible issue with a fuse on the interior and under the hood panels but could find none. I'm wondering if the issue is with the door switch or contact that is located on the vehicle framewhere the door closes. Why would both switches be defective for the driver side and passenger side?

Thanks

Hi Hondarepair,

The problem should be both the front door ajar switches.

Usually the problem is due to rust and the switch is not contacting when activated. Some cleaning might help but most probably won't last so it is advisable to replace them.
