Engine Cooling problem
1998 Honda CRV 4 cyl Automatic 222000 miles

I went for an oil change today and they brought to my attention a hole in the top side of the radiator. Would you suggest buying a used or new one.? How hard is it to replace the radiator?

Hi there ,
i would never fit a second hand radiator, spend the little bit extra and get piece of mind, flush the coolant as well. This is not a hard job to do, a home mechanic should be able to do this easily.

Okay, so don't buy a used one. Flush the coolant?
In the new one or what? Sorry for the ignorance I was just a little gray there. I just want to make sure it's done right.

Hi there,

Yes flush the coolant and replace the thermostat and the pressure cap, don't forget to include the heater core in the flush, check all the hoses as well as you don't want a hose problem as well.
