I have purchased a 2000 Honda Civic LX model from my relatives a year back and 2 months back I happened to do the required maintenance - oil change at one of the local Honda dealers. In the maintenance sheet they mentioned that I need to change the Timing Belt in my next schedule.
Honda Civic 2000 LX 4AT -- 92000 miles Not sure of the engine size.
I would like to know
1. How important is it for a change?
2. How should one know the wear and tear of the belt?
3. How frequent it should be changed?
4. What will be the total cost for replacement of the timing belt -- outside of Hondal dealer and at the Honda dealer?
5. Is it possible for me to buy the product outside and ask the Honda dealer to do the needful?
6. Is there any good website so that I can find information about individual parts and accessories for any vehicle with diagrams?
Please forgive me if I put lot of questions at once.
Looking for answers at the earliest.
TIA
