I have a 1999 honda civic EX the mileage is about 99,000 it has a 1.6 liter engine size when at a stop it takes it a whille to accelerate. Also going up hills it has a hard time accelerating. It is right now at the dealer where I bought it they said it did not do it for them when they test drove it. I need new front brakes they are down to the squealer could this be causing the car to slow down?

You could have had a brake that was dragging. It should have been extra hot and unless both were dragging it should have pulled to that side as well. Possible but there might be other answers.

Obviously, you need the work done one the brakes. I would see what the result is afterwards. If you notice the problem again, feel the rotor and do so with care as it might be very hot. Once you eliminate the brakes you are in to the engine looking for problems. This could be related to plug wires to O2 sensors.

I went and had the brakes repaired but last night the AC was making the car sound like it wanted to cut off so I turned the AC off and drove it to see if that would change anything. The car ran like the day I bought it. Can you pinpoint what in the AC might cause this?
