My son's transmission was replaced by his cousin, over the weekend, who works in a Honda dealership. The engine cranks, no start, engine ran before transmission was replaced. Fuel pump runs and pressure is good, had spark at spark plugs. Was working outdoors and sun shining on distributor, spark gone. Suspected heat related condition. Voltage at coil and ICM is batt. Volts,
coil checks good with VOM, replaced ICM, no spark to spark plugs, engine timing meets repair manual specs, CKP/TDC/CYP sensors test good with VOM.
All relays check good and no blown fuses in fuse box. No pinched wires found near transmission. Is there a way to test the ICM? Introduced a small amount of fuel and ether to engine via throttle body. Not a cough. Possible PCM?

Hi ralph1026,

What is the engine type for this vehicle?

The ICM cannot be tested, you can only test the power input.

Check for a loose ground at the thermostat housing or internally broken wires. Without this ground the engine will not start.

The engine is a 1.6 Litre single overhead cam.
The grounds were previously checked and cleaned.
No problems were found here. What do you think about the distributor? Everything should be working here. I feel I am going to have to go into the wiring harness. A wire may have broken in the harness as you had mentioned. That's the next step. Everything checks our. The distributor is the TEC.

Thanks for your response and help!

Hi ralph1026,

If you get power supply to the distributor, cranking would result in sparks unless the ICM or coil is faulty.
