My car started acting like it was going to die at a red light so I turned the a/c off and it seemed to run alil better. Later I decided to put anitfreeze in it and I went to start it and it was like it was drained? A fren came and jumped it thinking it was possibly the battery or the starter, now we figured it wouldnt hold a charge and drain again, so we are thinking the alternator? Can you help please?

Boost the car, and let it run. Put a voltmeter on the battery. If its 13.5V+ the alternator is MOST likely good. If it's lower, replace the alternator.

The proper way is too measure amperage as well, however you need an inductive pickup to read amperage. You may want to bring it to a shop to get an actual AVR test done.
