This transmission works well until you drive it a short distance (1-2 miles or so) then it begins to slip or disengage the drive (all gears). You can shut it off and start it up and it again works well immediately for another short distance. Let it sit a short while and it will work again for the above distance and repeat. Once in an irregular and infrequent while there is some torque converter shutter. This problem began following the replacement of both CV axles. Thank you.

Check your fluid level & color. It sounds like the fluid that came out when axles were removed did not get replaced. The dipstick is on top of trans, make sure car level, fluid should be @ top of perferation section on stick. Should be red in color. Smell the fluid also, if it smells burnt at all, trans is all done or trashed. If it's overfilled, that will cause damage also. Converters useually don't shutter, thats more likely a broken spring in clutchpack in 1st/2nd pack inside trans. If a repair shop did your axles, you may have a case. If low on fluid, it only takes 2 minuetes of driving to burn up trans. If it's slip'n that bad, I'm affraid trans. Is toast. Sorry for bad news. Good Luck.
