Clunk / Slight jerk just before the car stops.

Hello - I just purchased a 1999 Accord EX (4 cylinder) with 82,000 miles and the car seems fine except one blemish. While braking, the car clunks just a second before the car comes to a complete halt. I am not sure if there is an issue with the transmission because the acceleration is good and the shifts are really smooth. Even the downshift is good with no noticeable jerk until the final moment. This clunk / jerk is not noticeable when the gear is in reverse mode.

Any idea on how I should proceed to get this fixed?

Hi there,

With out hearing the noise it is a bit hard to say, but you may have a worn suspension bush somewhere, as the car stops you have a transfer of weight front to rear this may cause a clunk in a worn suspension bush, get the suspension checked and you may find your problem.
