My accord has been making a clunking noise from the front end when I hit potholes, curbs, manholes, etc. It does not make the noise when just driving or when turning. Only when I run over or hit things such as mentioned above. It has ofcourse gotten more and more sensitive. I noticed when I was having my front brake pads replaced about 2 months ago that the driver side boot is tore up and my mechanic/friend said it looks like there could be multiple things damaged as far as cv boots, struts, axle(s), bearings, shocks, but he didn't take an in depth look at any of it. I want to figure out what all needs to be replaced so I can get an idea of cost and see if it's worth my car or not.

Hi littledrummrgrl,

Clucking noises are usually from the control arms, stabilizer bushes or links, upper arems and steering linkages.

If the CV boots are torn, grease would ahve spilt oiut causing inefficient lubricvations and damage to the cv joints.

AS to the cost, you would need a physical examination of the vehicle to determine what needs to be rplaced/repaired.

Check the shock absorbers on the front. This definitely sounds like one of them has become weak and needs to be replaced. To check, press the car body down over one of the front wheels and see how it bounces back up, if it bounces more than twice, the shock absorber on that wheel needs to be replaced.
