My car shut off while idling and would not start. New battery, checked fuel pump, plugs. I was told that if I could start the car, release the key until the starter shuts off but not let it into the run position and the car ran, it was the ignition switch. Is this true?

That is a way of testing the some of the switch. The fuel pump relay could also be the culprit.

Fuel relay not culprit checked for humm of pump first b/c of main relay commonly going out in 90-93 accords (already replaced <4months ago).
