2004 Accord Tourer - no indicators or hazards after a bump

Hi

We have a 2004 Accord Tourer 2.2 CTDi. 94k on the clock. Yesterday the OH reversed hard into a tree damaging the rear right hand bumper - pushing it out of shape.

As we drove off all indicators seemed to be working OK. We pulled over and checked the rear - the tailgate opens and closes manually but when we tried with the automatic open/close it wouldn't close as it was bent out of shape, the sensor kept beeping and opening the tailgate. Once we pushed the bumper back in shape it opened and closed automatically no problems. You would hardly know there had been a bump as nothing else is bent.

However, we then found we had no hazards or indicators - there is no life to them and the dashboard symbols are dead for them too. Everything else works ok, it seems that trying out the automatic tailgate blew them somehow.

We replaced the fuse for the lights but each time the fuse just blows. Bulbs etc seem OK.

Can anyone tell me what might be wrong? I am assuming some cables must be damaged or disconnected somewhere, but we just can't see where.

Any ideas? Please! Honda repairs are so expensive!

Your turn signal circuit it shorted to ground. You need to investigate back there for wires touching together when no suppose to. The wires could have been pinched by the impact.

Check around the right rear wear the damage is.

Thanks, someone else also mentioned this and we will keep looking - we had a good look at it but can't see where it is shorting.

An added complication is a new towbar we had fitted on Friday which may mean some wires are touching where it has also been wired in in the exact place we had the bump.I am hoping that is not damaged! Haven't even used it yet!

We will have a good poke about again and see if any wires are trapped.
