I have a 1999 Honda Accord, Automatic Transmission that when I drive I could feel the gears kick in. I took it to a transmission shop to check and said it wan't the transmission. I was told by a friend that he had a car that would do that and he was told it was the solenoid. I want to know if that could be possible and want symptoms do the cars give when the solenoid does go bad? Thank you.

Hi f.E. Galvez,

Depending on which model trans you have, the number of solenoids varies. Any faulty solenoid can cause erractic or harsh shiftings.

Normally if any solenoid is malfunctioning, the D4 light should be blinking while driving.

Get a scan done to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
