My mechanic diagnosed my Honda's A/C problem as a discharge hose failure. According to my wife, he claims that if I do not have the hose replaced (for around $700) the serpentine belt could fail. Something about the A/C system distributing oil. She didn't understand, and it didn't make much sense to me.
Is this true? If so, is replacing the hose the only solution, or is there something I could do that won't cost so much? I can easily live without the air conditioning.
