1998 Honda Accord high idle

My car idles at 2 on the rpm and the engine is running fast especially when in park. It burns gas very quickly shifts hard from park to drive and reverse, and shufts hard while driving. What is this problem what can I do

Hi biggd0725,

The idling system is malfunctioning and possible causes are :

1. Faulty Idle Air control (IAC) valve.
2. Vacumn leakages. For idling speed to be at 2000 rpm, the excessive air getting past the throttle body is rather great. Check for any dislodged or broken hoses.

Is the Check Engine Light showing?
