I was changing my rear brakes and when I was completed I started pumping my brakes to tighten everything up. Now I have a brake line that is leaking. The leak is coming from the center of the car all the way in the back, probably the line that is running to my rear passenger side brake. There is a black guard that was blocking my view of the line once I took it off I still couldn't see the line, only my fuel tank. Does this line run above my fuel tank? and if so would I have to remove my fuel tank in order to replace this line? Would it just be easier to pay to get it fixed?

(I.E. The brake line that I think is the one leaking is #9 on this picture)

Hi mlm2588,

The line runs above the edge of the fuel tank. It is quite troublesome to replace it.

Hi,
Thank you. Im only a back yard mechanic, is this something that is a "do it yourself" kind of thing where I can complete this in my garage.

Thanks again

Hi mlm2588,

It is possible to do it in the back yard but you need to lift the vehicle to be able to work it.

If the leakage is not due to corrosion and the point of leakage is accessible, you can try getting a pipe connecting joint of the correct size to solve the problem.
