I have a 1993 Honda Accord, LX w/5 spd manual transm. After driving for about 30 minutes the 2nd gear grinds whenever I shift into it (from 1st to 2nd and from 3rd into 2nd). I checked with a mechanic and he couldn't find anything. This problem only occurs after the transmission is warmed up.

Does your car have a hydraulic clutch or is it cable operated. If it is the cable it may be out of adjustment. As the transmission heats up all the metal parts expand which would explain why it happens after the car is warmed up.

I would suspect a syncronizer is going out. Make sure that the gear lube is up to the right level. I would not worry too much about it. If you ride the clutch and wait a couple of extra seconds once the clutch is engaged will that reduce the amount of grinding?
