1993 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

after reviewing reasons why it shuts off while driving I checked the spark plugs and #2 cylinder had 2-3 tablespoons of oil on top side of plug, #3 cylinder had 1 teaspoon of oil on top side of plug. I realize the plugs and wires need to be replaced because of this. Though I don't understand why they have oil. I replaced the wires, plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter, valve cover gasket, 4 spark plug tube seals, timing belt, counter shaft belt, water pump, ignition coil, main relay and alternator belt because #2 cylinder had oil before. Do you have any idea why this is happening again? And is this the only cause for it shutting off while driving? It shuts off once every 2 months and starts up in an hours time.

Hi mljohnso,

You should have used the reply to question link from your former post in order that the person ansewering the question can follow up when notification is received.

When oil is present in the plug holes, there are 2 area that can cause it.

1. Plug seal, it is under the valve cover gasket.

2. Rocker shaft carrier O ring, it is located under the carrier in each individual plug hole.

You have replaced the valve cover plug seals so the leaking should be from the rocker carrier O rings.

It should not be the cause of the engine stalling, I would still suspect a faulty main relay as it is known to be troublesome even if it is a new unit.

Remove the main relay and resolder the circuit board inside it.
