I was told that a faulty gear box rises above ref 3 when on speed 100km/h and above. My car rises above ref 4 when I am at speed 110km/h. Is my gear box faulty and does it consume more fuel in this state than usual?

Another question I would want to find out is what could cause an engine to vibrate to the extent that one can feel the vibration inside the car even when the engine mount is in good form? Does it need tune up of the engine?

Yet another question has to do with the shocks. I notice that the car swerve a little to the left when it enters a bump or pot hole when on speed 100km/h what is the real cause of this.

Thank you

Hi Enoci,

Revving above 4000 rpm at 110 km/h indicates the trans is not upshifting to 4th and it could be a fault with the transmission. At higher engine speed it definitelty would consume more fuel.

Does the reverse work correctly?
Is the D4 indicator light blinking while driving?

Engine vibrations are mostly due to faulty engine mounts. Were the mounts replaced or just a visual inspection was carried out?
What is the idling speed?
Does putting in reverse or D cause the engine to vibrate more?

The vehicle swerving when hitting potholes are could be due to a faulty control arm, its ball joint or the steering has excesive free play/ bad linkages.
