To install your alternator, perform the following procedures:

If the alternator brackets were removed, reinstall them. Coat the bolts with a thread sealer or liquid thread lock. Install the bracket bolts and tighten them to 36 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
Fit the alternator into place. Install the upper through-bolt and tighten it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
Install the small stay, the lower through-bolt and the adjusting bolt. Make certain the adjusting bolt is properly installed.
Install the belt. Install the alternator nut. Adjust the belt tension. Tighten the alternator nut to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
Connect the wire to the terminal and tighten the nut.
Engage the multi-pin connector to the alternator.
Install the cruise control actuator.
Install the power steering pump.
Connect the negative battery cable.

I have a similar problem, however, my '92 Accord is an LX, so it also has A/C. When I removed the tensioner bolt from the Alternator, the bolt was bent. I had to remove the whole mechanism. I was unable to get an OEM replacement bolt and had to have one custom machine. Do you have an exploded view showing the alternator and how the adjustment mechanism is reinstalled? It was very difficult to see when I removed it, which I would no have done if the bolt had not been bent. It was very difficult to remove the nut. New bolt works great! Also, should thread lock be applied. My instruction manual calls for it but is unclear about this bolt. Know you probably don't get many women doing their own repairs. I've done all the repairs on this Accord, since I got it, 20 years ago. Don't plan to get a newer vehicle, because of the money it saves me in shop charges, as a senior citizen! Really appreciate the help from all of you guys. Just found your site, it seems great, just like Honda Tech. Thanks so much!

Just what I needed! Thanks so much for your quick response! It's getting cold, here in Wisconsin, and I'm doing this outside! It just stopped raining, so I'm hoping to finish before the temperature drops into the 40's, this evening!
