My wife has a 1991 honda accord EX. We recently have had some problems with erratic idling, this started after we replaced the distributor. We have been through 2 distributors because they seem to stop sending a spark to the plugs, but we still have the erratic idling problem. When the car stops running, we can start it again the next day and when the engine gets hot, it stops running again. We have replaced the ECU twice, the Distributor 3 times, I have adjusted the FIT valve. When I chech the vacuum pressure on the fit valve, and block the vacuum home, the enine returns to normal idle and will not rev up, until I remove my finger.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi philroark,

When idling is erratic, it usually is caused by vacumn leakages and the symptoms described seems to point to the FIC valve.

When operating temperature is achieved, the FIC should close fully resulting in no air passing through it.

1. Check if the coolant hoses to and from the valve is clogged.
2. Check if the valve has worked itself loose due to a worn O ring.
