1989 Accord lxi radio AC problem

Like the header says, I have an '89 LXi (144K) and I am having problems with
the climate control fan and the radio. About two or three months ago, odd
things started happening: if the radio was on and I turned on the fan control,
the radio would turn off. If I moved the switch back, the radio would turn on
again. If I turned the car off and turned it back on again, the problem went
away. If I left it in accessory, the problem went away. Conversely,
sometimes, turning on the radio would kill the fan. Again, both would work in
accessory. This did not happen all the time and there appeared to be no
climatic pattern. However, tonight it was quite chilly.

Tonight, they both died and refused to come back at all. But here is an odd
thing: as I move the key from the start position (there's a little '0' next to
the keyhole) and move it JUST past the 'I' but before you get to 'II' they both
turn on. Once I get to 'II', they both shut off.

I farted around with it for about ten minutes and occasionally heard a slight
'pop' from underneath the hood as I turned the key. It only happened a few
times. I raised the hood, hoping to isolate the sound, but I was by myself and
could not do both.

The radio still keeps time and all selections regarding where the fan blows the
air (heat/vent/mix/ect) appear to work. As I click those buttons, I hear
various things closing and opening. Oh, and the A/C compressor comes on as
well. It just appears to be the fan.

All the fuses seem okay.

Does anyone have ANY ideas?

I would start by check ALL ground wires for secureness and ensure that they are making good contact. After that I would suspect the ignition switch.

That was my first guess and I had the ignition switch replaced about 2 weeks ago. It worked fine for about 12 days, then the same problem occured. Now I am back in the same situation.

Off the top of my head this appears to be electrical connections. Whether they are ground or fuse, etc.
