1988 Honda Accord revs up

My honda when you start it revs up like I got my foot on the gas. When I was driving it I would take my foot off the gas and it would still pick up speed. Why is it doing this and what can I do to fix it?

Your throttle plate may be sticking open. This could possibly be because of a sticking throttle cable or a gummed up throttle body (more unlikely though). Check these components and get back to us.
