1990 Honda Accord EX, 2.2 liter, 4 cylinder, 4 door with 212,000+ miles. Todate with maintenance and new timing belt.

1.) My car was not idling and the "S" was blinking. I changed the speed sensor and the "s" does not blink anymore but the car continues to rev up and down except when the car has run for awhile and/or during warm weather. I was told to check the MAP and/or the Throttle positiion sensor to try to solve the problem. I purchased the auto repair book for my car but the troubleshooting section does not offer any advise regarding this issue and the map & tps sensors... Pls advise.

2.) 2 days ago while stopped at a traffic light the car began to sputter as if it were going to shut down due to not enough gas flowing through the injectors (possibly). When stopped it sputters but when I accelerate while driving it subsides. Could this be related to the idling issue or could this be a separate issue altogether like clogged injectors and/or fuel pump or debris in the fuel lines. I usually add fuel injector cleaner every 2nd time I fill the tank but I have never changed the fuel pump and have never had the injectors flushed. What can I do to trouble shoot / repair this problem. I enjoy working on my car and would be happy to fix this issue myself. But if recommended I will seek professional repair. Please advise.

What are the possible causes for the lack of idling and the sputtering symptoms??????? And what can I do resolve. Saul

Try the EGR and do a fuel pressure test comeback with the results. Don't be impatience.

Check for a vacuum leak on the car causing the surging of the engine. Look at the IAC valve as well. You can take it off and clean it. Look at the coolant level and purge it of any air. It these and what Rasmataz mentioned don't solve your problem. Come back and we can give you another dose of "could be's".
